I was planning to post something different today, but I had a parent struggle/heartbreak moment last night and thought it might help to share. One of my kiddos finally opened up about some of their struggles at school/lack of friends. Doesn’t your heart instantly sink to your toes when that happens?
I talked to Doug about it, and I could tell it was bothering him because he was really quiet for the rest of the evening. Before bed we talked at great length about how difficult it is to see you child go through “social” growing pains.💔
Thankfully, God has been speaking to me a lot over the last couple months, about letting go of these type of pains–the pains we experience when our child is sick, or when they don’t feel like they have any friends, or even the pain/fear we have for them after witnessing tragedies like what happened in Las Vegas.
But you know what has helped me get through these pains with some ease? Comfort in knowing that I am equipping my kids with the most important tool they need: FAITH
There is always room for improvement, but FAITH is the absolute best investment for us and our kids. More than sports, academics, hobbies. Because when we pray often, go to church regularly, surround ourselves with Christlike examples or listen to Christian music, we are equipping our kids with the #1 answer to get through these hard times. (And us parents too!) Because of this, I am reassured that no matter what–they will know what/who to turn to in moments of despair.
Isn’t that comforting?
So heartbroken parent or child out there? Let’s take a deep breath and know that our children are in good hands. The best thing we can do is to pray with them, and pray for them.
God will take care of the rest.
